Order WordPress from the Marketplace App tab as shown in how to order a VPS with a one-click app. When the install card on your server page shows the finished result, follow the steps below.
What you get
WordPress with Nginx, PHP and a MariaDB database, already installed and set up. It needs at least 1 GB of memory, and the install takes 5 to 10 minutes.
1. Open your site
The server page shows two addresses: your site (http://your-server-ip/) and the admin page (http://your-server-ip/wp-admin/). Press Show app login to see the admin username and password. Sign in at the admin address.
2. First things to do
- Change your admin password under Users, Profile.
- Under Settings, General, set the site title.
- Under Settings, Permalinks, choose a readable format such as Post name.
- Install a theme under Appearance.
3. Use a domain and HTTPS
The address is a plain IP with http, which is fine for trying it out but not for a real site. Point your domain at the server (guide) and add a free certificate (guide). Then set both addresses under Settings, General to your https domain.
Where things are
The WordPress files are on the server under /var/www. Sign in with SSH if you need to reach them.
Troubleshooting
- The page does not open: check that you used http and not https.
- Lost the login: press Show app login again on the server page.
