How we keep your site safe during a move
A migration should be boring. These rules are why.
Backup first
Before anything is moved we take a full copy of the site and its data, and check that the copy can be restored.
Your old server stays as it is
We copy. We do not delete or change anything at the old host, so it keeps working while we build the new one.
Tested before the switch
We open the new copy on a private address and test pages, forms, logins, payments and email before any visitor sees it.
You approve the switch
Visitors move to the new server only when you say so, at a time that suits your traffic. The switch is a DNS change, not a rebuild.
A way back
The old server stays untouched until you confirm. If something is wrong, DNS points back to it and your site is as before.
Careful with your logins
We ask for a temporary account or key with only the access the move needs. You remove it when we are done.
From first message to a finished move
Tell us what you run
Send the address of the site or server, where it is hosted now, and what must not break (for example a shop or mail).
We look before we touch
We check the apps, versions, databases, mail and DNS, then send you a plain-language plan with the steps and the switch time.
Copy to the new server
We set up the new server (an AtoZNode VPS or dedicated server, or one you already have), install what the app needs and copy the data.
Test on a private address
You and we check the new copy together. Anything that differs from the old site is fixed before the switch.
Switch when you approve
We lower the DNS cache time in advance, do a final data sync, and point the domain to the new server.
Watch and hand over
We watch the new server after the move, keep the old one for the agreed time as a safety net, and give you a short report.
Migration is part of our managed plans
The Pro Managed Servers plan includes free migrations for up to 50 sites, and the Enterprise Fleet plan includes unlimited migrations. For a one-off move, or a move on another plan, we give you a fixed quote after we look at what you run. GST is added to all prices, and you agree to the price before we start.
A short checklist
- Keep your old hosting plan active until the move is finished and checked.
- Tell us about email on the same domain, so we plan it too.
- Pick a quieter hour for the switch, such as late evening or early morning.
- Do not change the site during the final sync, or tell us when you do.
- After the move, remove the temporary access you gave us and change your passwords.
Website and server migration: your questions answered
Will my website go down during the move?
The move is planned to keep downtime as short as possible. The old site keeps running while we build and test the new one, and visitors switch over with a DNS change at a time you choose. For shops and apps with live data we do a final sync at the switch, and we tell you in the plan if a short pause is needed.
What kinds of sites and apps can you migrate?
WordPress and other CMS sites, online shops, PHP and Laravel apps, Node.js, Python, Docker setups, cPanel, Plesk and DirectAdmin accounts, databases, email and Windows apps. If it runs on a server, send us the details and we will tell you honestly how we would move it.
Do I need to tell my old host?
Usually not. We only need access to your site files and database, or a backup you can download. Keep your old plan active until the move is finished and checked, because it is your safety net.
Do you delete anything from my old server?
No. We copy your data and leave the old server as it is. Cancel the old plan yourself after you are happy with the new one.
What do you need from me?
The domain name, where the site is hosted today, a temporary login or backup, and the time that suits you for the switch. If you use email on the same domain, tell us, so we plan it too.
What about my email?
We list your mailboxes and DNS records first and plan the move so that mail keeps arriving. Mailbox contents can be copied over, and we test sending and receiving before the switch.
How much does a migration cost?
Migration is included in the Pro Managed Servers plan (up to 50 sites) and the Enterprise Fleet plan (unlimited). For other cases we give a fixed quote after we look at what you run. GST is added to all prices.
Can you move my site to a server that is not at AtoZNode?
Most moves are to an AtoZNode VPS or dedicated server. If your new server is somewhere else, tell us and we will say whether we can help.
How long does it take?
A small site is often ready for testing within a day or two. Larger shops, many accounts or a full server take longer. You get a time estimate in the plan before we start.
Can I do the move myself and just get help?
Yes. Open a ticket or contact us, and we can check your plan, do the hard parts, or review the new server before you switch.
