Windows uses more memory than Linux, and a Remote Desktop port left open to everyone is a common target. Choose a strong administrator password, limit Remote Desktop to your own address or use a VPN, and install Windows updates regularly. Our one-click apps are written for Linux, so on Windows you install software yourself. Programs that need their own licence, such as paid editions of SQL Server, are not included.

Is the Windows licence included?
Yes. Windows Server 2022 comes at no extra licence charge: you pay the plan price. Programs you install that have their own licence, such as paid editions of SQL Server, are not included.
How do I connect?
With Remote Desktop. The login details are on your server page once the server is ready. Windows has Remote Desktop built in, and there are free apps for Mac, Linux and phones.
How much RAM should I choose?
Start with 4 GB for Windows Server. Choose more if you run SQL Server, several users or heavy programs. Watch the memory graph and move up if it stays high.
Can I run IIS and .NET?
Yes. Install the IIS role and your .NET runtime and deploy your site. Add a free or paid certificate for HTTPS.

Which payment methods can I use?
