Managed MediaWiki, looked after for you
MediaWiki powers company and community wikis. A public wiki attracts spam and needs steady updates, caching and good backups of the pages and the uploaded files.
MediaWiki: what we look after
- MediaWiki and extension updates, with the update script run and checked
- Caching with Redis or Memcached and PHP settings for many readers
- Anti-spam and account settings to keep bots out
- Backups of the database and the images folder
When MediaWiki goes wrong
- Spam pages and fake accounts
- A wiki that slows down as pages and history grow
- Search that stops working after an update
Who uses managed MediaWiki
Companies and communities that keep internal or public documentation in a wiki.
What it needs
PHP, MySQL or MariaDB or PostgreSQL, and a cache such as Redis for many readers. 1 to 2 GB of RAM is common for a small wiki.
What we check first
Before we change anything on a new MediaWiki setup, we look at these, and we tell you what we found in plain words:
- MediaWiki and extension versions
- Spam and account creation settings
- Image upload folder size
- Job queue and caching
From order to a watched MediaWiki setup
MediaWiki is part of every managed plan. Besides what is listed above, each plan includes outside checks every minute, off-server backups, security hardening and a team that answers your tickets. The price counts servers, not apps.

Backups and watching first
Backups and outside checks are set up before any change, so we can always go back.
Then the steady work
Updates, security, tuning and fixes follow, and you can ask us anything by ticket.

MediaWiki support: your questions answered
Can you move a wiki from another host?
Yes. We move the database and uploads, install a matching version, run the update script and check pages, search and logins before the switch.
Do you set up spam protection?
Yes. We configure account creation rules and common anti-spam extensions. Moderating content stays with your editors.
Is MediaWiki covered by the managed plans?
Yes. The managed plans count servers, not applications, so MediaWiki on your server is covered with no extra price per app. Plans start at ₹1,999 a month for one server, and GST is added at checkout.
