How to Choose a Managed Server Provider in India: 9 Questions to Ask
Two managed plans can look identical and behave very differently. These nine questions show you which provider will actually help when it matters.

Managed server plans all promise the same thing: "24/7 support". The difference shows up on the night something breaks. Before you pay, ask these nine questions. A good provider answers them plainly and in writing.
1. What exactly does the response time promise?
"15-minute response" can mean someone replies within 15 minutes, or that someone starts fixing within 15 minutes. Those are very different. Ask which one it is, whether it applies at night, and what happens if the target is missed.
2. How many servers does the price cover?
Some plans are priced per server, others per fleet. Compare the cost per server at the number of servers you really have, and ask what happens when you add one more.
3. Where are my backups kept, and have they been tested?
Backups on the same server are not backups. Ask for the schedule, how long copies are kept, where they are stored and when a restore was last tested.
4. Who can log in to my server?
Good providers use individual accounts or keys, limit who has root, and keep a log of every login. If you are asked to email a root password, be careful. Ask how login details are stored and whether they are removed when the work ends.
5. What is not included?
Ask about the things that cost extra: control panel and security licences, migrations, emergency work outside the plan, restoring very large backups. A clear "not included" list is a good sign.
6. Do you help me move in, and out?
Moving sites to a new server is real work. See whether migration is included or priced, and what help you get if you later decide to leave. You should be able to stop at the end of any billing period without being locked in.
7. How will I know what you did?
Ask for a report after incidents and after cleanups: what happened, what was done, how to avoid it. A dashboard that shows server health and backup status is even better, so you can check for yourself.
8. How is billing handled?
For Indian businesses this means rupee pricing, a proper GST invoice and payment options such as UPI. Ask about renewal reminders and what happens if a payment is late. Services should be paused, not deleted.
9. Can I speak to a person?
Send a test question before you buy. How quickly and how clearly it is answered tells you a lot about the support you will get later.
